Sprint’s 1Million Project kicked off this week in an 11 market pilot program. 500 students have already received devices, 250 high school students in each Dallas, TX and Park Forest, IL. As part of the pilot program, through June, over 4,000 students will receive either a free smartphone, tablet or hotspot device and 3Gg of high-speed LTE data per month. Those receiving a smartphone can use it as a hotspot and unlimited domestic calls and texts.

Sprint is committed to helping close the digital divide “Homework Gap” for millions of families with school aged children that do not have broadband access at home. In response to this national issue, Sprint has launched the 1Million Project, a multi-year initiative to offer free mobile devices and free high-speed wireless internet connectivity to 1Million low income U.S. high school students.  This exciting corporate initiative is the largest of its kind in U.S. history.
